After a year of very disappointing sales, unsuccessful marking attempts, and a stalling out of reviews, I caved. I joined Kindle Unlimited, and it’s making me (small amounts of) money.
I didn’t want to do Kindle Unlimited. I even blogged about it. I didn’t want to limit my books to only sell on Amazon.com, which is the key requirement of Kindle Unlimited. I published my books on every platform, but none of them except Amazon saw any traction.
So, this summer I pulled the plug and only have my books for sale on Amazon.com, which allows me to enroll them in Kindle Unlimited. Since I have, I’ve received some page reads, which is good, and a very small amount of royalties.
I wish there was a different, working option for self-published authors, but right now, Amazon is the king, and I am its subject.
