Project Description
In “Gen. Phototypes”, I combine modern generative / algorithmic art processes with primitive photographic printing technologies. Starting with creative code written in JavaScript and Solidity, outputs are transferred to acetate before being used in contact-prints on personally crafted emulsion papers. The result is a blend of organic and inorganic, chemical and geometric, modern and vintage, and wholly unique.
Technical Notes
Each piece is hand coded and hand crafted with a lot of random variables, resulting in unique pieces that could never be recreated. Various printing techniques are used, including anthotypes (pictured), cyanotypes, Van Dyke Browns, and more. All images are scanned to digitally preserve the artwork, and depending on the technique used, scans may be enhanced to show better contrast and detail.
Editioned Prints
At this time, digital editions and ‘poster prints’ are not available, but they may become available at a later date.
